A couple and a woman died in separate shooting incidents in northern Negros Occidental in two days.
Killed in Brgy. Rafaela Barera, Sagay City, on Saturday night, September 17, were Nobert Simon Bukaling and his wife, Hanna Grace.
The couple, along with their 4-year-old daughter, were on board a motorcycle when they were attacked by a motorcycle-riding suspect.
The suspect was identified by witnesses as 33-year-old Niño Andrin who rear-ended the victims’ motorcycle, causing them to fall to the ground, the police said.
He then shot the couple several times, the poilice added.
The husband and wife were rushed to Alfredo E. Marañon Sr. Memorial District Hospital but were declared dead on arrival. Their minor daughter was unscathed.
The suspect was arrested in a hot pursuit operation.
In Escalante City 57-year-old Josephine Matus was shot to death in her meat shop at Brgy. Dian-ay on Friday, September 16.
Police said the unidentified assailant who wore a blue ball cap and brown jacket shot the victim on the lower left side of her chest and back.
The suspect fled the scene on board a motorcycle.
The victim was brought to the Lopez District Farmers Hospital Inc. in Sagay City where she was declared dead on arrival.
Police have yet to establish the motives for both crimes.*
