Queen Camilla, wife of King Charles III of Great Britain, has congratulated the Negros Occidental Garden Club (NOGC) for its 60 plus years of promoting gardening in the province.
In a letter from her Deputy Private Secretary, Belinda Kim LVO, the Queen sent members her warmest thanks for the “wonderful work you all do and for the impressive length of time you have been doing so,” adding it was quite an achievement to clock up more than 60 years of encouraging a love of gardening in others, a press release from the club said Friday, Dec. 6.
The Queen, herself a lover of gardens and gardening, heard about the extensive work of the NOGC through club member Robert Harland, a Bacolod resident and former British Embassy Consular Warden for Negros Occidental.
NOGC president Nonoy Lope Napao said “We are very proud of our work in promoting gardens and gardening in the province. It was very gracious of Queen Camilla to send her congratulations.”*
