A Bacolod contractor is proposing to undertake a 168-hectare reclamation project worth P4.2 billion along the coast of Barangay Banago, Bacolod City.
A request by Jerry L. Sy of Silver Dragon Construction and Lumber and Glass Supply Inc. for a Resolution of No Objection (RONO) to his proposed Banago Reclamation and Development Project was on the agenda during the Bacolod Sangguniang Panlungsod regular session on Wednesday, November 8.
Councilor Claudio “Kalaw” Puentevella, chairman of the SP Committee on Health and Environment, said the request was accepted by his committee for deliberation after members of the SP had different opinions on the matter.
Their application for reclamation is now pending before the Philippine Reclamation Authority, Sy also told the SP.
“The basic rationale for the proposed reclamation project is to provide land development to meet the robust urban population growth over a long-term planning horizon of at least 25 years,” he said.*
