House Speaker Martin Romualdez is expected to visit the family of the Negrense caregiver who was killed in Israel at their residence at Sitio Camay-an in Brgy Cadiz Viejo, Cadiz City, Negros Occidental, Wednesday afternoon, October 18.

Romualdez or his representative will turnover P500,000 in assistance to the family of Loreta Villarin Alacre who was killed in a firefight between Hamas militants and Israeli forces on October 7, Mayor Salvador Escalante said.

Escalante said he and Rep. Alfredo Marañon III (Neg. Occ.., 2nd District) will join the Alacre family in welcoming Romualdez or his representative.

In addition to the financial aid, Romualdez is also looking at possible job opportunities and scholarships for her relatives as additional assistance.

Loreta was the breadwinner of her family.

The mayor said he also had the road to the Alacre residence repaired and had canopies put up for the wake.

There is no definite date yet when the remains of Loreta will arrive in the Philippines.

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on Sunday assured the family of Loreta of the immediate repatriation of her remains as soon as a humanitarian corridor will be opened.

The president has also provided assistance to Loreta’s sister, Nelia, who works in Kuwait for her return to the Philippines.*
