Senator Risa Hontiveros, chair of the Senate Committee on Health, visited the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital (CLMMRH) in Bacolod City on Friday, September 19, “to gather inputs on how to support the service delivery network in the public health system”.
This will help ensure that all of the promises made under the universal health care system are realized, she said.
CLMMRH Medical Center Chief II, Dr. Joan E. Cerrada, provided a comprehensive overview of the hospital, emphasizing its role as the primary referral center for the Negros Island Region and its ongoing efforts to improve access to quality healthcare,
Engr. Roy Dela Torre updated Hontiveros on the status of the hospital’s current and proposed infrastructure projects, which include upgrades and expansion work designed to enhance patient services.
CLMMRH Planning Officer III Karen Reales also presented the hospital’s budget proposal for 2026.
Hontiveros toured various areas of the hospital to inspect its facilities and interact directly with patients and staff.
A CLMMRH statement said the senator’s visit highlighted the critical need for continued collaboration between the Department of Health, the Senate, and local health institutions to ensure the delivery of safe, efficient, and patient-centered hospital services.*
