A “resist corruption , defend people’s rights” march-rally to mark the 77th Anniversary of the United Nation’s Universal Declaration of International Human Rights Day will be held in Bacolod City Wednesday afternoon, Dec. 10.

“Corruption is a human rights violation,” Fr. Armando Onion of the One Negros Ecumenical Council (ONE-C) said on Tuesday.

He said participants will gather at the South Capitol Road from 12 to 1:30 p.m. Wednesday and march to the replica of the Bacolod City Government Center at the public plaza for the 2 p.m. rally.

The main speaker at the rally will be former Bayan Rep. Neri Colmenares, he said.

The theme of the march-rally is “Resist Bureaucratic Corruption and Defend the Fundamental Human and People’s Rights”.

It is being spearheaded by ONE-C, Taumbayan Ayaw sa Magnanakaw at Abusado Network Alliance and the Human Rights Advocates in Negros, Onion said.

They expect a crowd of about 5,000, Onion said.

He called on the public to join the march-rally to show their resistance and indignation against corruption in government.

Meanwhile, the Katipunan ng Kabataan Laban sa Korapsyon (KKK) led the posting of anti-corruption posters along Lacson and Gatuslao streets on Monday in preparation for the Dec. 10 protest.*
