The P92 million renovation of the Emergency Room at the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital in Bacolod City is on schedule, a Department of Health (DOH) official said on Monday, October 20.

Dr. Mary Ann Maestral, DOH undersecretary, said 9.79 percent of the work has been done as of Oct. 19 and the target is for it to be completed by December 31 as stated in the contract.

“I am very happy with the way the renovation work is going…I told them if we can finish much earlier, it would be better,” she said.

Maestral said despite the ongoing renovation of the ER, 2,567 patients have been served at the temporary Emergency Department in front of the hospital.

A waiting area has also been set up for patient watchers so they are comfortable, especially with the rain, she said.

The DOH has also downloaded P165 million for the rehabilitation of the Mother and Child Building at the CLMMRH, which is currently being used as a holding area for emergency room patients, Maestral said.

The bidding for the rehabilitation of the Mother and Child Building will be done before the end of the year so more patients can be accommodated at CLMMRH, she said.

Its rehabilitation will start when the ER work is completed, she said.

Maestral said she is closely monitoring construction and repair work at the CLMMRH so it can accommodate more patients.

The CLMMRH is also currently converting to solar energy, she added.*
