Skeletal remains of an 8-year-old girl who went missing during Typhoon “Tino” last year were found in a sugarcane farm in Hacienda Alicia, Barangay 5, Isabela, Negros Occidental, on Tuesday, Feb. 10.
Maj. Joseph Partidas, Isabela police chief, said the remains were identified by the victim’s grandmother and aunt through the child’s clothing and bracelet.
Police said the girl, a Grade 3 pupil, was reported missing after she was swept away by floodwaters during the onslaught of Typhoon Tino on Nov. 4, 2025.
The remains were discovered by villagers while they were cutting sugarcane in the area.
Authorities said the skeletal remains were turned over to the family after proper documentation.
Police noted that similar discoveries were also reported in nearby Binalbagan as the sugar milling season began, with remains of individuals who went missing during Typhoon Tino being found in plantation areas.*
