
Fire hits 29 houses in Purok Lampirong Compound, Barangay 2, at past 1 p.m. Thursday, March 5, the Bacolod City Fire Department reported.
The fire destroyed 20 houses and damaged nine, leaving 29 families with 90 members homeless, it said.
Firefighters rescued an injured dog in the blaze.
The fire occurred in an identified Red Zone or fire-prone area, Bacolod Fire Marshal Jenny Mae Masip said.
The houses made of light materials were built close to each other with narrow pathways, Masip said.
She said their firetruck arrived in the area at 1:18 p.m., the fire was placed under control at 1:23 p.m. and they declared it out at 1:29 p.m., Masip said.
The fire started from the house Rosalie Alburoto and no one was at home at the time, she said.
Estimated fire damage was placed at P296, 250, the fire department reported.*
