Red Cross Bacolod gives 1st COVID-19 booster shot to school stakeholders

The Red Cross Bacolod gave a first COVID-19 vaccination booster shot for children aged 5 to 11, 12 and up, students, and teachers of Luisa Medel National High School, and also for residents residing in and out of Brgy. Tangub through the Bakuna Bus campaign.

Myra B. Eramis, adviser of the Red Cross Senior Plus Council of Luisa Medel NHS, said that the rollout of the 1st booster shot is an initiative of the school administration, utilizing its gymnasium facility as a vaccination site for general public accessibility.

This is also one of the phased approaches of the school in preparation for the face-to-face classes in August to ensure the health and safety of individuals, particularly our children and teachers for the reopening of the school and face-to-face classes, she added.

As of 3 pm, close to a hundred individuals were vaccinated with the first dose of COVID-19 booster. Parents and their children, students, and teachers were encouraged to pre-register and get the booster jab. Vaccinees are free to choose from Pfizer, Sinovac, and Moderna as their booster shots.

The school partnered with the Red Cross Bacolod, the school’s Faculty and Employees Association (FEA), and the Red Cross Senior Plus Council in initiating the inoculation. (PR)
