
An alleged New People’s Army rebel was killed and another was captured in an encounter with 62nd Infantry Battalion soldiers at Sitio Malatanglad, Brgy Budlasan, Canlaon City, Negros Oriental, at 5 p.m. Friday, April 28.
Killed was Anthony Arances Curson, 22, and captured was Leonido Sta. Ana Montero, 46, a Negros Oriental Provincial Police Office report said.
Initial investigation showed that 62 IB Charlie Company soldiers on foot patrol were fired at by about 10 rebels that led to a 7-minute firefight.
No one was injured on the government’s side, the police report said.
A .45 caliber pistol and ammunition were recovered from Curson, the police said.
Recovered from Montero was a .45 caliber pistol colt m1911 and ammunition, the police added.*
