Anthony Gerard A. Suatengco of Pulupandan town was elected president of the Vice Mayors’ League of the Philippines (VMLP) – Negros Occidental Chapter for 2022-2025 at L’Fisher Hotel in Bacolod City on Monday, July 25, the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) announced.
Suatengco and the other VMLP officers were unopposed.
The other officers are Thomas Maynard J. Ledesma of Silay City – vice president, Jose Nicolas V. Jalandoni III of Talisay City – secretary general, Nehemiah J. Dela Cruz of Salvador Benedicto – treasurer, Jeffre L. Encoy of Hinoba-an – auditor, and Adrian S. Villaflor of Moises Padilla – public relations officer.
Members of the Board of Directors are El Cid M. Familiaran – Bacolod City, Christopher S. Carmona of San Carlos City – 1st District, Lilia O. Decolongon of Cadiz City – 2nd District, Eric D. Matulac of EB Magalona – 3rd District, Jimmy C. Gavan of Pontevedra – 4th District, Juan Miguel C. Montilla of Isabela – 5th District, and Miguel M. Zayco of Kabankalan City – 6th District.
They took their oaths of office before Negros Occidental provincial administrator Rayfrando Diaz.
Suatengco said that he plans to improve the relations of VMLP-Negros Occidental Chapter with national and international agencies and organizations to help in attaining efficient and effective local legislation with the end goal of providing laws and ordinances that will benefit the LGUs of the province.
“I plan to network with various organizations and help our respective councils develop skills and knowledge to enable us to develop programs that will enrich and upgrade the capabilities of our local legislative bodies,” Suatengco said.
The election was presided by Maria Nove A. Mejica of the DILG who represented Provincial Director Roselyn B. Quintana as the VMLP Comelec chairperson.*
