PSA warns vs. unauthorized printing of digital national ID

The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) – Negros Occidental is warning the public against the unauthorized reproduction of the Digital National ID in polyvinyl chloride (PVC) cards that is now rampant in Bacolod City and Negros Occidental.

The printing of the Digital National ID is strictly prohibited and the documents resulting from which are considered invalid, John F. Campomanes, PSA – Negros Occidental Chief Statistical Specialist, said.

He said reproducing or issuing National IDs without authority from the PSA is punishable under the law.

This is as mandated in paragraph 3 of Section 19(b) of Republic Act No. 11055 where penalties are three to six years of imprisonment and a fine P million to P3 million, Campomanes said.

Relying parties from the local government units, national government agencies, government-owned and controlled corporations, academe,
and private and financial sector are strongly advised that the Digital National IDs in PVC cards should not be accepted as proof of identity and age in any public and private transactions, he said.

The only acceptable formats of the National ID are the screenshot or downloaded file of the Digital National ID, National ID in paper form, and the physical National ID cards printed by the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas and delivered by the National ID Service Delivery Service Provider, he added.

Campomanes urged the public to help the PSA in stopping the unauthorized printing of the Digital National ID for the safety of every Negrense by reporting such activity to the Provincial Statistical Office of Negros Occidental.*
