The Philippine Statistics Office and Negros Women for Tomorrow Foundation (NWTF) have partnered to bring the Philippine Identification System (PhilSys) to all Dungganon banks in the country to promote financial inclusion.

The PSA and NWTF entered into a memorandum of agreement for a colocation strategy where PhilSys registration will be available at Dungganon while prioritizing the opening of bank accounts for unbanked Filipinos, a PSA press statement said Wednesday, January 17.

The MOA signing was held at the NWTF Building in Bacolod City.

Under the MOA, bank account opening will also be made available at the fixed registration center of the PSA-Negros Occidental following the completion of initial requirements.

The signing ceremony was attended by National Statistician and Civil Registrar General Undersecretary Claire Dennis Mapa, PhilSys Registry Office (PRO) Officer-in-Charge, Deputy National Statistician Fred Sollesta, Use Case Development and Management Service (UCDMS) Assistant National Statistician Emily R. Pagador, PSA Regional Director Nelida Amolar, and Provincial Statistical Office (PSO) – Negros Occidental Officer-in-Charge John Campomanes.

Dungganon Bank Inc. President Corazon Henares, Chairman of the Board Wilhelmina R. Gonzales, General Manager Raymond Patrick Serios, and Service Head Dorothy Anne D. Jacinto were also present at the event.

“This colocation strategy of the PSA with the Dungganon Bank was established not just to encourage our citizens to register to PhilSys, but also to widen the reach of the agency in promoting financial inclusion,” Mapa said.

He added that the anticipated success of this strategy would lay the groundwork for sustainable and equitable national development.*
