PSA: Bacolod, NegOcc inflation rates increase

The current inflation rate of Bacolod City and Negros Occidental accelerated to 6.2 percent and 4.8 percent, respectively.

Records from the Philippine Statistics Authority-Neg. Occ. showed that Bacolod’s inflation rate in July was 6.2 percent, which is 0.1 higher than June’s 6.1, while the province’s was at 4.8 percent, 0.3 percent higher than June’s 4.5 percent.

Some commodities in the province were noted to have a positive annual growth like food and non-alcoholic beverages, clothing and footwear, housing/water/electricity/gas and other fuels, transport and education services.

While alcoholic beverages, tobacco, recreation/sports and culture recorded a negative inflation in Neg. Occ, PSA said.

Bacolod’s inflation was attributed to a slight increase in the indices of some commodities like clothing and footwear at 12.3 percent from 12.2 percent in June 2024, transport at 2.4 percent from 1.9 percent;

Recreation/sports and culture at 5.9 percent from 5.2 percent, education services at 19.8 percent from 17.2 percent, and restaurants and accommodation services at 6.3 percent from 4 percent.he average inflation rate in Western Visayas is 4.8 percent, while the country’s is 4.4 percent, which grew by 0.7 percent from June’s 3.7 percent, the PSA added.*
