PRO-NIR warns public against scammers impersonating police officials

The Police Regional Office Negros Island Region (PRO-NIR) issued a warning on Wednesday, Oct. 14, against individuals impersonating key police officials and personnel to fraudulently solicit financial assistance or induce money transfers through calls, text messages, and online platforms.

The PRO-NIR urged all PNP personnel and the public to remain vigilant against such fraudulent schemes.

“The names and identities of PNP officials and personnel must never be exploited to deceive others or solicit money for personal gain,” it said.

Everyone is reminded not to entertain suspicious requests, to verify authenticity through official channels, and to promptly report unauthorized solicitations to the proper authorities, the PRO-NIR added.

“These actions are vital to preventing fraud, protecting potential victims, and holding those responsible accountable,” it said.

The Police Regional Office encouraged the public to report any incidents involving the unauthorized use of PNP officials’ names and identities to help authorities take appropriate action and prevent further fraudulent activities.

The PRO-NIR stated that it remains committed to protecting the public and upholding the integrity of the organization through accountable service, public cooperation, and continued efforts to combat fraud.*
