The Police Regional Office–Negros Island Region (PRO-NIR) reported a generally peaceful and orderly observance of Undas 2025 in the region, with no major incidents recorded from October 31 to November 2.

Under the Ligtas Undas 2025 security plan, PRO-NIR deployed police personnel at cemeteries, terminals, major roads, and other public areas to maintain order and assist visitors.

Undas is the Filipino term for the observance of All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day on November 1 and 2.

Police Assistance Desks were established in strategic locations, ensuring immediate response to public concerns.

Brig. Gen. Arnold Thomas Ibay, Regional Director of PRO-NIR, thanked the public for their discipline and adherence to safety guidelines, which contributed to the safe observance of Undas throughout the region.

“The successful and peaceful observance of Undas 2025 reflects the strong collaboration between the police, LGUs, and the community,”  Ibay said.

However, immediately after their Undas operations, PRO-NIR shifted to full disaster response mode following Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration’s (PAGASA) advisory on Typhoon “Tino”, which is expected to bring heavy rains and flooding to parts of the Visayas.

Ibay ordered all units to activate their Disaster Incident Management Task Groups (DIMTGs) and coordinate with PAGASA, NDRRMC, OCD, and local disaster councils for synchronized preparedness and response.

The directive includes the activation of command posts, preemptive evacuation support in flood-prone areas, increased police visibility in vacant communities, and deployment of security teams in evacuation centers.

Units were also directed to prepare search and rescue equipment, medical kits, and emergency supplies.

“From Undas security to disaster response, our transition must be immediate and efficient,”  Ibay said.

PRO-NIR assured that all police units across Negros Island remain on full alert status, ready to respond to emergencies and assist local authorities in relief, rescue, and recovery operations as Typhoon “Tino” approaches.*
