The Police Regional Office–Negros Island Region (PRO-NIR) has intensified security preparations to ensure a peaceful and orderly observance of the 40th EDSA People Power Revolution anniversary on Wednesday, Feb. 25.
PBrig. Gen. Arnold Thomas Ibay, PRO-NIR regional director, directed all provincial directors, chiefs of police, and force commanders to implement proactive security measures across the region.
These efforts will prioritize identified convergence areas, including public plazas, churches, major thoroughfares, transport terminals, and specific venues for commemorative activities, the PRO NIR said.
Security deployments will feature increased police visibility through foot and mobile patrols, the establishment of Police Assistance Desks, and close coordination with local government units and event organizers.
Ibay said intelligence monitoring and threat assessments are also being conducted to prevent potential security breaches.
He said that the police aim to protect the public’s right to peacefully assemble while maintaining general safety and order.
The PRO-NIR encouraging the public to remain vigilant and immediately report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station or through established hotline numbers.
It is committed to ensuring that the 2026 anniversary remains solemn and secure, honoring the 1986 movement that serves as a defining moment for democracy and unity in Philippine history, the PRO NIR said.*
