PRO-NIR chief awards medal to wounded Bacolod cop

Brig. Gen. Arnold Thomas Ibay, Police Regional Office–Negros Island Region (PRO-NIR) director, awarded the Medalya ng Papuri to Police Staff Sgt. Mark Loui Soriba on Sunday morning, September 14.

The ceremony took place at the Bacolod Adventist Medical Center in Barangay Taculing, Bacolod City.

Soriba received the recognition for his exemplary performance and bravery during a buy-bust operation on September 11 along Pana-ad Access Road, Barangay Mansilingan, Bacolod City, Ibay said.

The operation led to the arrest of a known drug personality, identified as alias Joefer.

During the police action, Soriba was injured after being accidentally hit by a car.

His dedication and commitment were crucial to the operation’s successful outcome, the PRO-NIR said.

The awarding ceremony was witnessed by BCPO Director Col. Joeresty P. Coronica, Lt. Col. Romeo Vargas, Chief of the City Administrative Resource Management Unit,, and Capt. Dax Santillan, commander of Bacolod Police Station 7.

Ibay said that Soriba’s dedication reflects the ideals of service, honor, and sacrifice that every police officer embodies in the ongoing campaign against illegal drugs.*
