PRO NIR breaks ground for Police Station 9 in Bacolod

The Police Regional Office Negros Island Region led the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of Police Station 9 in Barangay Cabug, Bacolod City, on Friday, Jan. 23.

In a press release, it said the new Police Station 9 is intended to improve response time and bring police services closer to residents in rapidly growing and densely populated areas of Bacolod City.

BCPO City Director Col. Joeresty Coronica said the facility will enhance operational capability through improved office space, custodial facilities, and areas for frontline and community services.

Capt. Andy Ofalia, chief of Police Station 9, said the new station is expected to strengthen patrol coverage and police visibility in its area of responsibility.

In a message read during the ceremony, Police Regional Director BGen. Thomas Arnold Ibay said the project reflects PRO NIR’s thrust of building a responsive, people-centered police service and strengthening public trust through improved infrastructure.

He added that police stations serve not only as operational hubs but as spaces where service, accountability, and partnership with the community begin.*
