The Police Regional Office-6 aims to inoculate the 13,549 police force in Western Visayas.

Based on the latest PRO-6 data, 4,709 policemen are now fully vaccinated, while 1,882 have yet to get their second dose.

At least 6,958 personnel in the region have yet to be vaccinated.

The PRO-6 rolled out its vaccination program at their headquarters at Camp Gen. Martin Delgado in Iloilo City this week.

Brig. Gen. Rolando Miranda, PRO-6 director, said the 8,000 AstraZeneca vaccines for the policemen in the region were an allocation from the national government for the Philippine National Police.

“This is for our protection. We are very lucky that our government is looking into the welfare of the policemen who serve as the front liners in this Covid-19 pandemic,” Miranda said.

The policemen are under the government’s A4 category of the vaccine priority list. A4 covers essential workers.

Based on its latest records, 1,178 police personnel in the region tested positive for the virus, with 165 active cases, while 1,009 have fully recovered and four have died.*
