President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. will lead the ceremonial distribution of P83.1 million to 8, 315 farmers and fisherfolk severely affected by the El Niño drought in Negros Occidental during his expected visit to Bacolod City Thursday afternoon, June 27.
The event will be held at the University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos football field that is expected to draw a crowd of 10,000.
The recipients of the Presidential Assistance for Farmers, Fisherfolk, and Families (PAFFF), who have been identified and validated by the Department of Agriculture, will receive P10,000 each, Assistant Secretary Dale De Vera of the Presidential Communications Office said at a press conference at L’Fisher Hotel in Bacolod Tuesday night, June 25.
The funds will come from the office of the president, which will be released to local government officials for distribution to the identified recipients, he said.
To ensure transparency each local government will be given 30 days to liquidate the funds released to the recipients, he said.
The funds should be distributed to the recipients in 30 days and reported back to the president, De Vera said.
A “Lab for All” medical mission led by First Lady Liza Araneta Marcos will also be held at the UNO-R auditorium on Thursday morning.*
