
The newly appointed Commission on Population and Development (CPD)–Negros Island Region staff presented Negros Occidental’s award and certificates for its performance in population and development programs to Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson at the Capitol in Bacolod City on Thursday, April 3.
The CPD–NIR Interim Staff were led by the commission’s Central Visayas regional director Bruce Ragas and Western Visayas regional director Harold Alfred Marshall.
The award presented to the governor recognizes Negros Occidental’s Population and Development Division as one of the Outstanding Population Offices in Western Visayas.
The province also received a Certificate of Recognition for achieving the Highest Regional Population and Development (RPD) Database Utilization and Support in the Implementation of Strategy among Special Population Groups (SPG).
Negros Occidental also received certificates of recognition for being ranked as:
*First for New Family Planning Acceptors with 1,829 percent referred and served;
*Fourth for Responsible Parenthood and Family Planning Demand Generation; and
*Excellence in Adolescent Health and Development with 181 percent of adolescents reached.
The CPD regional office will be established in Negros Oriental, while two staff and an assistant regional director will hold office at the Capitol in Bacolod City, Lacson said.

Meanwhile, the assumption of office of Ramir B. Uytico as Department of Education NIR regional director and Anthony H. Liobet assistant regional director has yet to be scheduled, DepEd Region 6 spokesperson Hernani Escullar said.
The DepEd NIR regional office will be located in Dumaguete City.*
