Pope Leo XIV has granted the Pontifical Coronation of image of the Virgen sang Barangay, which is venerated at the San Sebastian Cathedral in Bacolod City, the Diocese of Bacolod announced on Sunday, September 28,
The pope’s decree for the coronation dated September 12, is his first for the Philippines, the diocese announced on Adsum, its official Facebook page.
The solemn coronation ceremony will be held at the San Sebastian Cathedral on October 16, it said.
The event will be presided over by Apostolic Nuncio Archbishop Charles Brown with Archbishop Victor Bendico of Capiz.*
