Police seize P2.7 million worth of shabu, arrest high-value suspect in Sibulan

The police seized more than P2.7 million in suspected shabu and arrested a high-value individual during a buy-bust operation in Purok 3, Brgy. Magatas, Sibulan, Negros Oriental, on Monday, Dec. 22.

The arrested suspect was identified as alias “Macmac,” 33, a native of Manjuyod, Negros Oriental, and currently residing in North Poblacion, Valencia town.

Authorities said around 400 grams of suspected shabu were confiscated during the operation estimated at P2,720,000.

The operation was conducted by the Provincial Intelligence Unit and Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit of the Negros Oriental Police Provincial Office, with support from the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency and Sibulan Municipal Police Station, under the intensified anti-illegal drugs campaign of Police Regional Office–Negros Island Region.

Police said the operation stemmed from information provided by a confidential informant regarding the suspect’s alleged involvement in illegal drug trade.

After validation and surveillance, operatives coordinated with PDEA and arranged a transaction that led to a buy-bust operation and the arrest of the suspect following the consummation of the sale.

Recovered from the suspect were several sachets of suspected shabu in various sizes, marked and bogus buy-bust money, a cellular phone, and a sling bag.

The confiscated drug evidence was submitted to the Negros Oriental Police Provincial Forensic Unit for laboratory examination, while the suspect is now under the custody of the Sibulan police.

Charges for violation Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act will be filed against the suspect.*
