
The drugs seized in the buy bust operation at San Juan Steet, Brgy. 6, Bacolod City.*
Nearly P2 million worth of suspected shabu was seized and two high-value drug personalities were arrested in Bacolod City during the opening day of the MassKara Festival on Wednesday, Oct. 1.
Alias “Bebe,” 44, of Brgy. 18, was arrested in a buy-bust operation at St. Therese Street, Brgy. Taculing, at 5:30 p.m. by the City Drug Enforcement Unit of the Bacolod City Police Office.
Seized from him were about 70 grams of suspected shabu valued at P476,000.
At around 9:30 p.m. a checkpoint in Brgy. 6 led to the arrest of alias “Anthony,” 35, of Brgy. 2, after he attempted to evade inspection, while driving a motorcycle without a license plate, helmet, and side mirrors.
Confiscated from him were about 220 grams of suspected shabu worth P1.49 million, cash, drug paraphernalia, and a hand grenade.
Both suspects are detained and will face charges for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act.
The confiscated drugs were submitted to the provincial forensic unit for examination.
BGen. Arnold Thomas C. Ibay, regional director of Police Regional Office-Negros Island Region, commended Bacolod police for the back-to-back arrests, stressing that neutralizing high-value targets is crucial to ensuring the safety of festival goers.
