
The police in the Negros Island Region have launched a massive manhunt for an escaped inmate facing qualified rape raps.
Eduardo Cia Sadia, also known as “Bebeng,” a 58-year-old fisherman, escaped from the EB Magalona Municipal Police Station, the Police Regional Office Negros Island Region (PRO NIR) said Tuesday, Sept. 9.
PRO NIR Regional Director, PBrig. Gen. Arnold Thomas C. Ibay, has ordered the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (NOCPPO) to lead the recapture efforts.
The PRO NIR and NOCPPO immediately launched a province-wide dragnet and manhunt operation.
Investigation and intelligence units from the provincial headquarters were sent to the EB Magalona station to assist with the investigation into how the escape occurred.
In response to the incident, PRO NIR has also tightened security protocols at all police custodial facilities in the region to prevent similar escapes.
Ibay assured the public that his office is doing everything to quickly rearrest Sadia and that all police units are mobilized to ensure public safety.
The public is urged to remain calm and vigilant and to report any information on Sadia’s whereabouts to the nearest police station.
A P20,000 reward is being offered for his recapture, by the EB Magalona Police Station.*
