About 10,000 illegal firecrackers and pyrotechnic devices confiscated by the police in a series of operations were destroyed at the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office grounds at Camp Alfredo M. Montelibano Sr. in Brgy. Estefania, Bacolod City, on Friday, Jan. 3.
The 21 anti-illegal firecracker police operations from Dec. 16, 2024 to Jan. 3 led to the confiscation of 10,595 illegal firecrackers and pyrotechnics valued at P88,895, the NOCPPO reported.
The police flattened the confiscated “Boga” using a BFP firetruck to dispose of the hazardous devices.
Col. Rainerio De Chavez, NOCPPO Director, said that the ceremonial disposal is part of their drive to continue working against illegal firecracker operations and to protect citizens from the dangers posed by these hazardous materials.*
