Police arrest farmer after loose firearm seized

A farmer was arrested after police recovered a loose firearm during a search warrant operation in Hacienda Hinalinan, Brgy. Guimbalaon, Silay City, Negros Occidental, Wednesday morning, Oct. 8.

The suspect was identified as alias “Tabing,” 51, married, and a resident of Hacienda Hinalinan.

The operation was conducted by Silay City Police Station operatives by virtue of a search warrant issued by Regional Trial Court Branch 6 Executive Judge Dyna Doll Chiongson-Trocio.

The operation stemmed from a tip from a confidential informant, reporting that the suspect was in possession of an undocumented firearm, the police reported

After surveillance and verification, authorities secured a search warrant on Oct. 2 and implemented it six days later.

Recovered from the suspect’s possession were a 12-gauge magazine-fed Shooters shotgun, one magazine, and two rounds of ammunition.

The recovered firearm and ammunition will be submitted to the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Forensic Unit for ballistic examination.

The suspect is now detained at the Silay Police Station.*
