Philsutech gears up for 70th convention 

The Philippine Sugar Technologists Association (PHILSUTECH) is gearing up for its 70th Annual National Convention at Waterfront Hotel in Cebu City, August 12-16. 

This year’s theme is “Boosting Technology Innovations to Advance Competitiveness of the Philippine Sugarcane Industry”.                          

About 1,000 delegates, consisting of sugar millers, ethanol distillers, biopower generators, planters and traders, as well as suppliers of sugar industry technology, equipment and various farm inputs, are expected to participate in the annual event in the sugarcane industry, a press release from Philsutech said on Wednesday, June 12. 

 Delegates from other sugar-producing countries, such as India, Thailand, Brazil and the United States, are also expected to come. 

The PHILSUTECH convention features keynote messages from government officials and industry experts who can apprise stakeholders on issues affecting the industry.  

The gathering also showcases product exhibits and technical presentations, as well as the announcement of winners of the Search for the Best Technical Paper, the Don Carlos L. Locsin Award and the Outstanding Sugar Practitioner Award.  

“This year marks a milestone in the history of Philsutech, as we will be holding the 70th Annual National Convention. We encourage our sponsors to reserve their slots early. We also call on our members and incoming members to register early for the convention, so that they can avail of early bird discount,” said Haydee V. Rivera, Philsutech Corporate Secretary and Administrative Officer. 

Prior to the formal opening of the convention, there will be a friendly golf tournament in Cebu. The golf tourney is open to all members, delegates and sponsors.*
