PGN bridges targeted for completion in 7 years

Bacolod Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez assured on Tuesday, Nov. 28, that the Panay-Guimaras-Negros bridges remain a priority of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.

They are looking at seven years to complete the bridges and the president wants substantial work undertaken before his terms ends in 2028, Benitez said.

Benitez said regular meetings to expedite the construction of the bridges are being held at the Office of the President.

The last meeting was in November and another will be held on Dec. 12, he said.

He said a detailed engineering study of the Guimaras-Negros stretch of the project will also be conducted.

They are eyeing the use of different contractors for the Iloilo to Guimaras, and Gimaras to Negros bridges to hasten construction, Benitez said.*
