Persons of interest identified in killing of ‘barker’ – PNP

Bacolod City Police Station 2 cops have identified persons of interest in the shooting to death of a “barker” in Purok Lubi, Brgy. 3 on Jan 31.

They are looking at a group behind the killing of Mary Jane Co, 39, Maj. Eugene Tolentino, Station 2 Commander, said on Wednesday, Feb. 5.

A ”barker” is a person who calls passengers to ride on public utility vehicles.

The police said that the motive for the shooting could be connected to the illegal drug trade as the victim’s live-in partner said that she was using shabu.

The police also said that the suspects might have had a misconceived suspicion that the victim was a police asset.

Co, a resident of Dumaguete City, Negros Oriental, who was temporarily residing in Brgy. 5, Bacolod, was shot multiple times by an unidentified person on a motorcycle.

The victim was brought to a hospital but was declared dead due to a gunshot wound in the head.
