Pediatric vaccination starts, 25,000 Pfizer doses arrive

Negros Occidental and Bacolod City are kicking off the mass vaccination of children aged 5 to 11 years old on Valentine’s Day, February 14.

There were 15,000 doses of Pfizer- BioNTech vaccines that arrived in Negros Occidental and 10,000 in Bacolod City for the pediatric vaccination campaign.

Negros Occidental will kick off the drive at the Teresita L. Jalandoni Provincial Hospital in Silay City at rites to be attended by Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson, Vice Gov. Jeffrey Ferrer, Silay Mayor Mark Golez and provincial consultant Albee Benitez.

In Bacolod City, it will be at the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital, Bacolod Queen of Mercy Hospital and Riverside Medical Center, where they aim to vaccinate 100 children at each site for a total of 300, Em Ang, Emergency Operations Center executive director, said Sunday.

Parents must bring photocopies of their identification cards and of the birth certificates of their children up for vaccination, Ang said.

A guardian, accompanying a minor, must bring an authorization letter signed by the parent of the child, she said.*
