An agent of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency was shot at Purok. Cabuguason, Brgy. Cabug, Bacolod City, Tuesday night, October 5.
The victim was identified as Agent Jayson Yayola, a member of the PDEA-6 Special Enforcement Team.
He was onboard a motorcycle when was waylaid and shot three times by the unidentified gunman.
In a statement, PDEA-6 denounced the attack on its agent, who is presently being treated for his injuries.
PDEA-6 said it is waiting for the results of the police investigation.
It said that PDEA-6 does not discount the possibility that the shooting may have been job-related, especially with the intensified campaign that the agency launched against drug personalities in Bacolod City and other parts of Negros Occidental.
“The whole regional office is urged to remain strong and focused on their responsibilities as frontliners in the campaign to rid our communities from illegal drugs, and for the investigation to unmask the culprits behind the attack on one of our men,” the statement said.*
