The bodies of five of the nine missing crew of a fishing boat from Cadiz City that sank in the waters between Iloilo province and Sicogon Island Friday were recovered during the weekend, Captain Ludovico Librilla, Philippine Coast Guard Western Visayas deputy commander, said Sunday, September 26.
Recovered by divers inside the FB St. Peter the Fisherman II wreck that sank 44 meters deep were the bodies Norberto Parlotza of Bantayan Island, Cebu, and Rommel Engle of Cadiz City, Negros Occidental, on Saturday, September 25, Librilla said.
On Sunday recovered were the bodies of Julit Salvo of Salvador Benedicto town and Victor Calvo of Cadiz City, and a still unidentified cadaver, he said.
Still missing are boat captain Frankie Chavez of Toboso, and Manuel Auditor, Julian Dungog and Renante Forsuelo of Cadiz City in Negros Occidental, and Herminio Ronamo of Estancia Iloilo.
PCG boats and divers were still searching for those still missing, he said.
An investigation team from PCG Central Office in Metro Manila is set to conduct an investigation into the sinking.
On Friday, 22 others on board the FB St. Peter the Fisherman II owned by Tristar Shipping Corp. were rescued, along with three others on its skiff boat.
A survivor said they were fishing when big waves and strong wind battered FB St. Peter The Fisherman II causing it to tilt on its left side and sink, Librilla added.*
