Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez said on Tuesday, January 2, that he will discuss with AyalaLand officials the possible opening up of their unused property in front of the Bacolod Hall of Justice as a temporary paid parking area.
Ayala has a parking area proposal that we will revisit, “I heard Ayala is just looking for an operator”, Benitez said.
A request has been made to allow lawyers attending hearings at the Hall of Justice to park in no parking towing zones at Gatuslao Street and South Capitol Road.
Patrick Lacson, Bacolod Traffic Authority Office chief, said they will have to impose the no parking rule in the area until there is a city ordinance saying otherwise.
Lacson also said they are eyeing setting up loading and unloading areas for modern jeeps in experimental sites to ease traffic.
Donations of Bacolod street signs from the private sector is ongoing, Lacson also said.
He said 30 street signs have been committed by private sector donors and seven have so far been installed.
The Montelibano family is also donating street signs, he said.
A US-based group is planning to donate up to 20,000 street signs to Bacolod, Lacson added.
Lacson said under the previous administration the street signs cost P50,00 each but those donated only cost P10,000 to P12,000.
Benitez asked City Legal Officer Romeo Carlos Ting to explore if the street sign donors can get tax credits.*
