Police recovered three abandoned boxes containing illegal cigarettes estimated to cost P75,000 along the national highway in Sitio Bebang, Barangay General Luna, Toboso, Negros Occidental, on the afternoon of Tuesday, June 30.
The Toboso Police Station reported that the operation was initiated after a concerned citizen contacted the station at approximately 3:30 p.m. to report the suspicious items left beside the highway.
Toboso policemen immediately proceeded to the area to verify the report. Upon inspection, officers discovered three boxes containing alleged illicit cigarettes.
The suspects responsible for leaving the contraband remain unidentified, the police said.
All recovered items were properly documented and inventoried, and are currently under the custody of the Toboso police for safekeeping, pending referral and turnover to the appropriate agency.*
