Murcia town in Negros Occidental will have a brand new slaughterhouse next year.

Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson led the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of a P50 million Municipal Slaughterhouse Project in Brgy. Alegria, together with Mayor Gerry Rojas, Vice Mayor Johnny Reosura and other local officials on Thursday, June 22.

The project is one of the Department of Agriculture-led Philippine Rural Development Projects in Negros Occidental, co-funded by the World Bank, and the national and provincial governments, a press release from the Capitol said.

The project aims to produce hygienically prepared meat through proper and clean handling of livestock animals, with the use of sanitary techniques for slaughtering and dressing, it said.

The slaughterhouse project is targeted to be completed in April next year.*
