A long-time lotto bettor who won the P45 million jackpot in the Grand Lotto 6/55 draw on March 9 is a seafarer from Negros Occidental.
The winner, who has been playing the Lotto for a decade, said he never expected to hit the jackpot with the winning combination 38-32-08-20-19-09, which he later revealed were based on the birthdates of important people and meaningful events in his life, an article published in the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office website said.
He expressed deep gratitude for the life-changing fortune, which he believes will significantly alter the course of his life this year.
He said he spent years working as a seafarer, enduring the challenges of being away from his family for long periods. With his recent win, he has decided to permanently stay home and leave his seafaring career behind.
“I made a lot of sacrifices, especially being away from my family,” the winner shared. He added that he had nearly accepted another contract this year but chose to back out after learning about his win.
The lucky bettor plans to use his prize to pay off all his debts and start a business with his family in Negros Occidental. While he has yet to finalize his plans, he is also considering venturing into investments, the PCSO report said.
Despite his sudden wealth, the winner remains humble and thankful, cherishing the opportunity to start anew and build a better future for himself and his family, it added.*
