P40.8-M worth of shabu seized, high-value target nabbed in NegOr

A high-value drug personality was arrested and P40.8 million worth of suspected shabu was confiscated in a major buy-bust operation in Purok 5, Barangay Sto. Niño, San Jose, Negros Oriental, early Tuesday morning, July 15.

The suspect, identified only as alias “Pao,” 36, a resident of Barangay Camanjac, Dumaguete City, was arrested at around 12:35 a.m. by the Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit of the Negros Oriental Police Provincial Office.

Assisting in the operation were the Regional Intelligence Division of the Police Regional Office–Negros Island Region (PRO-NIR), the San Jose Municipal Police Station, and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency–Negros Island Region.

Authorities recovered approximately six kilograms of suspected shabu with a total estimated street value of P40.8 million.

In a statement, PRO-NIR said the successful operation underscores the ongoing and intensified efforts of law enforcement agencies to combat illegal drugs through intelligence-driven and coordinated actions.

San Jose Mayor Mel Nick Logronio also praised the operation, commending the dedication and teamwork of the police.

“The success of this operation highlights the PNP’s continued commitment to dismantling the drug trade and ridding our streets of this poison,” he said.*
