Three men were arrested after police seized approximately 52 grams of suspected shabu worth P353,600 during a buy-bust operation in Brgy. Malubon, Sagay City, Negros Occidental, on Thursday, Nov. 5.
The suspects were identified as “Kim,” 29, a fighting cock handler, “John,” 21, and “Jon,” 30, both laborers, of Brgy. Magsaysay, Cadiz City.
The Police Regional Office-Negros Island Region (PRO-NIR) said the operation was conducted in Purok Proper by the Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit of the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (NOcPPO), with assistance from other police units.
Police identified Kim as the main target of the operation, alleging that he had been supplying illegal drugs to several individuals in Cadiz City and nearby areas.
Authorities said Kim had been the subject of previous unsuccessful buy-bust attempts.
An initial operation in Victorias City on Nov. 5 also yielded negative results, prompting police to coordinate with another confidential informant.
The information led operatives to a private residence in Brgy. Malubon, where the buy-bust transaction was completed.
Police arrested Kim and two other individuals who were allegedly at the residence to purchase suspected shabu from him.
The confiscated suspected illegal drugs were inventoried in accordance with Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, while the operation was documented using two body-worn cameras.
PRO-NIR Regional Director Brig. Gen. Rudecindo Reales said police would continue intelligence-driven operations against illegal drug distribution across the region.
The three suspects remain under the custody of the Sagay City Police Station pending the filing of appropriate charges.*
