P19M hemodialysis center soon to rise in Isabela town

A P19.5 million three-storey hemodialysis center will soon rise beside the Ignacio L. Arroyo Memorial District Hospital in Isabela, Negros Occidental.

Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson, Rep. Ma. Lourdes Arroyo (Neg. Occ., 5th District) and Isabela Mayor Irene Montilla led the groundbreaking rites for the center today, January 28.

The facility is set to be completed this year, and will have an initial 12 beds for hemodialysis patients, the governor said.

“For the past years, the province has had a steady increase of patients needing kidney treatment. In fact, in the Governor’s Office, roughly 70 percent of our medical assistance goes to kidney and dialysis patients,” he said.

This Hemodialysis Center in Isabela will be of significant benefit to the people of the 5th District and the entire province, and “a step towards our goal of upgrading our health facilities, in line with our seven point development Abanse Negrense agenda”, the governor added.

Arroyo thanked the governor for his support not only to the Isabela hospital project but also to various projects in the Fifth District, and lauded him for being a kind and humble public servant.

Montilla said that the facility will cater not only to Isabeleños but to the whole Fifth District of Negros Occidental.

The construction of the facility will be spearheaded by the Department of Public Works and Highways – Negros Occ. 2nd District Engineering Office.

Also present were Hospital Chief, Dr. Ma. Lalaine Teorima, and DPWH Assistant District Engineer, Roderick Turingan, Negrense businessman and philanthropist, Frankie Uy, and Arroyo’s husband, John Lesaca.*
