Rehabilitation work on three public markets in Bacolod City has begun.
Mayor Evelio Leonardia, over the weekend, made the rounds of the Burgos Public Market to check on the progress of the project, a press release from the Bacolod Public Information Office said Tuesday, March 29.
A total of P150 million has been allocated by the national government, through the Department of Budget and Management, to complete the projects.
About P50 million was earmarked each for Burgos Market, Central Market and Libertad Market, Leonardia said.
Leonardia was accompanied by Assistant City Engineer Loben Rafael Ceballos during the weekend inspection together with key CEO personnel involved in the project planning.
“I requested the Department of Budget and Management for assistance with the rehabilitation of the city’s three major markets in 2020 yet,” the mayor said.
This is by far, Leonardia said, the biggest single Local Government Support Fund (LGSF) the city has ever received and made possible together with Vice Mayor El Cid Familiaran and the City Council.*
