P1.1M in shabu seized in Bacolod, Kabankalan

The police in Bacolod and Kabankalan cities in Negros Occidental seized nearly P1.1 million worth of suspected shabu and arrested six individuals in buy-bust operations on Tuesday and Wednesday, Aug. 5 and 6.

In Bacolod City, operatives of the City Drug Enforcement Unit (CDEU) arrested alias “Richard”, a high-value target, at Purok Kabuhi, Brgy. 10, at around 6:05 a.m. Wednesday.

Recovered from his possession were approximately 130 grams of suspected shabu worth P884,000.

The suspect, a resident of the Brgy. 10, will be facing charges for violating the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

Meanwhile, police arrested five suspects, including the main target identified as alias “Tanker”, 50, at Purok 2, Barangay 6, Kabankalan City at 3:05 p.m. Tuesday,

Also apprehended were alias “July”, 32, alias “Sarge”, 40, an ex-army personnel, alias “Grepil”, 45, a tricycle driver, and alias “Garry”, 33, a jobless man.

The operation stemmed from the transaction wherein “Tanker” and “Grepil” handed over a sachet of suspected shabu to a police poseur-buyer.

During the arrest the police recovered 39 sachets of suspected shabu weighing approximately 25 grams valued at P170,000, drug paraphernalia including a glass tooter and plastic straw scoop, and P1,743 in cash and marked money used in the operation.

The seized drug evidence has been sent to the Negros Occidental Provincial Forensic Unit for laboratory examination.*
