P1.1M in drugs seized in 3 Negros Island cities

The buy bust operation in Bais City*

Law enforcement agents have seized P1.1 million in drugs  in three cities in Negros Island.

A 29-year-old repeat offender classified as a High-Value Individual (HVI) was arrested on Sunday, July 19,  after police seized an estimated P374,000 worth of suspected shabu during a buy-bust operation in Barangay 2, Bais City.

The suspect, identified only by his alias “Nick,” is a married resident of Aglipay Street, Barangay 1, Bais City, the police reported.

According to police reports, the operation stemmed from a tip provided by a confidential informant regarding Nick’s alleged drug trafficking activities in Barangay 2. Law enforcement operatives immediately launched casing, surveillance, and validation operations to monitor the suspect.

Investigation records revealed that Nick is a repeat offender who had previously been arrested for violating Republic Act No. 9165 (The Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002) and had recently completed his probation.

Authorities also seized  P741,200 worth of suspected shabu and arrested two alleged drug pushers in separate buy-bust operations in Bacolod City and San Carlos City last week.

The operations, conducted on July 15 and 16, resulted in the confiscation of about 109 grams of suspected shabu.

BACOLOD CITY

In Bacolod City, agents of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Regional Office-Negros Island Region arrested a 60-year-old woman, identified only as alias “Edalyn,” during a buy-bust operation at Purok Kagaykay, Brgy. 2 shortly after midnight on July 15.

The operation was carried out by the PDEA RO-NIR Regional Special Enforcement Team with the Regional Office-NIR Special Intelligence Unit-Negros Occidental and the Philippine National Police Drug Enforcement Group Special Operations Unit-NIR.

Authorities recovered 16 sachets containing about 56 grams of suspected shabu valued at P380,800.

Also seized were the buy-bust money and a coin purse.

SAN CARLOS CITY

Meanwhile, another buy-bust operation in Purok Sagingan, Brgy. Quezon, San Carlos City, on the afternoon of July 16 led to the arrest of a 42-year-old suspect identified only as alias “Elizar.”

The operation was led by PDEA RO-NIR Negros Occidental Provincial Office in coordination with the PDEA RO-NIR Special Intelligence Unit-Negros Occidental, the PNP Drug Enforcement Unit of the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office, and the San Carlos Component City Police Station.

Recovered from the suspect were seven sachets containing about 53 grams of suspected shabu with an estimated value of P360,400.

Authorities also confiscated the buy-bust money, a coin purse, a mobile phone, and a black Honda CRF motorcycle.

Cases for violation of Sections 5 and 11, Article II of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, are being prepared against both suspects.*
