Vice President Sara Duterte said her office is prepared to provide assistance to evacuees should Kanlaon Volcano erupt.
Duterte, who was in Bacolod Monday, Nov. 11, met with Dr. Chris Sorongon, Office of the Vice President Negros-Panay satellite head, to discuss their preparations.
They are prepared to give food and non-food relief and medical assistance, she said.
Kanlaon Volcano continues to degas and emit gray ash, Mari-Andylene Quintia, Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology volcanologist, said Monday.
The volcano again emitted ash at 9 a.m. Monday, she said.
Kanlaon had 25 volcanic earthquakes and emitted 3,010 tons of sulfur dioxide from 12 a.m. Sunday to 12 a.m. Monday, Phivolcs also reported.
Quintia said they received reports of ashfall in Masulog, La Castellana in Negros Occidental, and upper Mananawin in Canlaon City, Negros Oriental, on Sunday.
Phivolcs on Sunday collected ash samples.
Microscopic examination of ash samples revealed a composition of mainly pulverized old rock within the edifice and not of material from new magma, Phivolcs said.*
