Police seized an estimated P2.7 million worth of suspected shabu during a buy-bust operation in Purok Mabugnawon, Barangay Junob, Dumaguete City, Negros Oriental, on Friday, November 14.
The suspect, identified only as alias “Empoy,” 42, a newly listed high-value individual from Brgy. Looc, was arrested after allegedly selling illegal drugs to an undercover operative.
Police said the operation stemmed from a tip that the suspect was looking for buyers.
An initial meeting was arranged but no deal took place due to lack of supply.
A follow-up meeting was set when the suspect claimed he had new stock, leading to the successful buy-bust.
Recovered from the suspect were several sachets of suspected shabu weighing a total of about 400 grams, a sling bag, a mobile phone, and marked money, the police said.
The seized drugs were turned over to the Negros Oriental Police Provincial Forensic Unit for examination and the suspect is now detained at the Dumaguete City Police Station.
Police Regional Office-Negros Island Region Director BGen. Arnold Thomas Ibay commended the operating team, calling the arrest a strong indication of the regional police’s intensified campaign against illegal drugs.
He said PRO-NIR remains committed to sustaining intelligence-driven operations to help keep communities safe and drug-free.*
