As “Oplan Paglilingkod” marks its 30th year, Mayor Leo Rafael “Bebo” M. Cueva challenged local government departments to sustain and strengthen the city’s people-centered service delivery, emphasizing that bringing services closer to communities must continue to improve each year.
The Sagay City government formally launched the program with a send-off ceremony on Tuesday, April 7, at the City Hall grounds before proceeding to Brgy. Colonia Divina for the first rollout of the five-week service caravan covering all barangays.
Cueva reminded participating personnel that the program is more than a routine activity, but a commitment to reach constituents directly and respond to their needs on the ground.
“Make our constituents feel that our services are within their reach. This is our commitment, and we must serve with a smile,” Cueva said.
He noted that while Oplan Paglilingkod has been implemented for three decades, the challenge is to maximize its impact and ensure that services are delivered efficiently during the limited time in each barangay.
“This is once a year, so we need to maximize our time in every barangay and make sure we serve as many people as possible,” he added.
Vice Mayor Narciso “Narwin” Javelosa Jr. said the program has been sustained since the 1990s, tracing its roots to the leadership of former governor Joseph Marañon, and remains a key initiative of the Sagay City Government.
Officials who joined the kickoff included Vice Mayor Javelosa and Sangguniang Panlungsod members Mel Serondo, Roldan Gamao, Benson Fernandez, Perfecto Marañon, and Sherwin Sy.
Brgy. Colonia Divina Punong Barangay Renato Andong expressed appreciation for the program, noting that residents benefit from accessing government services within their community.
During the activity, various services were delivered, including medical consultations, free medicines, dental care, circumcision, veterinary services, solo parent registration, PhilHealth enrollment, distribution of agricultural inputs, milk feeding, and civil registry services.*PR
