Only about 40 families remain in one evacuation center in La Castellana, Negros Occidental.

They are mostly residents of the Kanlaon Volacano 4-kilometer permanent danger zone who are prohibited  from residing in the area, John de Asis, La Castellana Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office head, said on Sunday,  June 23.

Kanlaon that erupted on June 3  remains under Alert Level 2 and entry into the 4-kilometer danger zone is prohibited as sudden steam-driven or phreatic eruptions could occur, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology has warned.

The rest of the La Castellana residents who evacuated after the eruption  have returned home, de Asis said.

He said they were informed by Phivolcs that even if it rains hard there is not enough  ash deposits left around  the volcano to cause lahar flows.

At most what will be experienced will  just be  muddy ash flow or greyish water, he said.*
