A collision between a tricycle and a motorcycle left one person dead and one injured at the national highway in Brgy. Bagonawa, San Enrique town, Negros Occidental, Sunday morning, June 11.
Ernesto Espinosa, 57, a tricycle driver from Brgy. Baliwagan, San Enrique, was found dead after his vehicle collided with a motorcycle driven by Archie Guanzon from Escalante City, a police report said.
It said that Espinosa’s tricycle was loaded with lumber and wood planks traveling on the highway when it made a left overtake, hitting the motorcycle.
Guanzon lost control of his motorcycle and sideswiped the tricycle, resulting in both individuals falling off the road.
Espinosa sustained injuries in different parts of his body and was declared dead on arrival at the Don Salvador Memorial District Hospital in La Carlota City, the police reported.
P/Maj. Bonifacio Aral Jr., San Enrique police chief, told DIGICAST NEGROS that Guanzon immediately surrendered to the police.
The families of both parties met on Monday. Espinosa’s relatives have yet to decide whether they will file charges or opt for a settlement, Aral said.*
